A new blog for a new phase in life.
Six years ago I thought I might want a career in science communication. So I followed SciCommers on Twitter and kept my eyes and ears open for best practices and tips. I attempted my own SciComm from organizational social accounts and occasionally from my own.
A week ago, I was accepted in to the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Kansas Medical Center (!!). I still don’t know what I want to do when I finish (I have a list of options); one of those is some kind of science communication.
A few days ago, I started this website as a portfolio and resume, but I also wanted to have a place to practice writing different types of blog posts:
plain-language summaries of my own or others’ research articles to share with family and friends,
journaling thoughts and news on my PhD journey,
or whatever else I feel like writing about.
Now, with a strong sense of this time of transition, I am excited for the future. We’ll see what this blog will become!
